A drunk driver slammed his red truck into two parked vehicles and a crowd of pedestrians in Alhambra on Sunday night, injuring 13 people.
The accident happened at about 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Fremont Ave. and Poplar Blvd. The pedestrians were gathered to view holiday light displays. According to the Alhambra Police Department, 13 people were injured in the accident. Eleven people were transported to a local hospital, and four of them were critically injured.
Police arrested the driver on suspicion of drunk driving. The driver is described as a male in his 20's.
Given his age and the fact that he was likely driving under the influence, there is a strong chance that he won't have sufficient (or any) auto insurance to cover the claims of his 13 injury victims. Those victims would then be able to make a claim under their own uninsured (or underinsured) motorist coverage, if they carry it. In an uninsured motorist case, you are entitled to make a claim for the same damages as if you were suing the at-fault driver.
